More code released

24 03 2011

I had a hour of free time, going through some code i have used in the past, and i’ve posted them in the code section (see menu above).

Also, you can never look past code you do not understand so try to understand what is written when you use it.

I’ve got plenty more but this is what i could find in some of my recent coding folders.

Yippy, more code! (i was testing the robustness of someone' elses 3D augmented skeleton code, and it crashed when i jumped. That is because of my lightningfastness ofcourse.

Send email with Gmail in C# (C sharp)

15 03 2011

This code is old, new code with example is on the new website.

Don’t use the GmailHelper library. It seems great, but i couldnt get it working on 2010 express since it had all kinds of old dependencies.
Sending email with c# is super easy, but it took me an hour to work it out, so as a note to myself and for your possibly convenience, we can use the following:

  1. declare
    using System.Net.Mail;

System.Net.Mail.MailMessage mail = new System.Net.Mail.MailMessage();
System.Net.NetworkCredential cred = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("", "PASSWORD");
mail.Subject = "subj";
mail.From = new System.Net.Mail.MailAddress("");
mail.IsBodyHtml = true;
mail.Body = "message";
System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient smtp = new System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient("");
smtp.UseDefaultCredentials = false;
smtp.EnableSsl = true;
smtp.Credentials = cred;
smtp.Port = 587;

TU Delft Robotics Lab

10 03 2011

Website moved, new website HERE
Today I worked in the Distributed Robotics Lab of the TU Delft (DCSC) again. Sadly though, a student colleague was already working on the only computer, so I had to work on this trusty beast:

My desk at the Technical University in Delft

Okay so no, obviously I took my own laptop with me to the university like i always do. Why we have fixed computers (that get recycled every year) at all at the TU Delft is beyond me; they are slow, unreliable and inflexible. Though still it is fairly serious that this computer is actually standing there, untouched for the last 10 or so years. i mean.. a floppy.. is lieing still ON THE KEYBOARD!? (actually there is a reason why this is like this, has to do with a stubborn professor, but no-one dares to talk about it, i’m serious.)

New 3D Camera with 3D screen

27 02 2011

Friday i obtained my Fujifilm Finepix 3D W3 camera. It has dual 10MP lenses, and a real 3D (no glasses) screen, which really works as well as i have been told it would. With every picture it takes it saves one JPG from the left ‘eye’, and a ‘stereo jpeg’ ( .MPO format). Also, it records HD stereo movies, which works just as good (plain two-in-one .avi format).

The problem is, how do i show you my pictures? I can’t YET, but here is one sample YouTube video in 3D from this camera from me:

And here is one picture, if you click on it you will download a 9Mb .MPO picture

Click to download the stereo JPG

The battery lasts around 15 minutes, sadly. It is a NP-50 battery, which has 3.6V. Weirdly enough, NP-50 batterys are commonly 3.7V.. This is weird, but does not matter. The inner circuitery handles that, and plus, while discharging the voltage swings by more than just that 0.1V, so that’s nothing to worry about. I bought two extra battery’s so i have 3.

Apple’s third iPad: the iPad 3D?

27 02 2011

It seems Apple will release the iPad 3 this winter <via>. Although maybe the time is not yet right for the technology: it would maybe seem like the right step. A 3D screen on the iPad. It also seems they have got granted a patent on a 3D technology that allows multiple people viewing the same screen at the same time <patent grant>.

I was pleasantly surprised by the 3D quality on the 3D screen of my new 3D camera. More about this and many content due tomorrow.
